Sir,

I have the honour to forward as usual forthe

information of the Right Honourable the Secretary of

State for the Colonies, Summaries of the number of Chinese

who left and arrived at this Port in the Year 1899.

I must mention that the information con-

cerning those "arrived" is obtained from the Masters and

Agents of the various steamers, and that there is no

means of checking the number in this Office.
